Frequently Asked Questions
NBCC offers content outlines and study guides. Available here: https://www.nbcc.org/exams/nce
Yes, contact NBCC and have them send ABEC your score (this is easiest through the ProCounselor tab on the CCE’s webpage: http://www.cce-global.org) and they will send us your score through the secure NBCC secure score portal we use to retrieve NBCC testing scores.
The LPC by Endorsement process requires that you pass the examination in the state you are licensed. If you did not take and pass a required state examination (or the state cannot provide documentation of such), then you will be required to take and pass the NCE for ABEC licensure.
NBCC requires all NCE testing applicants to be verified by an agency or school that authorizes them to take the examination. ABEC can provide this authorization to you after you have applied for the ALC licensure and your application has been approved at the Academic Review level.
ABEC cannot provide authorizations for the NCE unless the person is an applicant at, at least, the ALC licensure level through ABEC and has been approved at the Academic Review level. We recommend that you contact the state agency that certifies school counselors so they can provide you with the authorization to take the NCE.
